Honestly, Crusteaze at Costco are the best there is, was, or ever has been. Dare I say.

But my wife makes some really good cornmeal/buttermilk pancakes, too.

Hi,
I would like some savoury recipes with chopped up home smoked bacon and other goodies as well as the cornmeal/buttermilk one.
My wife is not a pancake lady but I am trying.
Thanks,
Jan.

The recipe is in the Joy Of Cooking -- Cornmeal Buttermilk. If you don't have the book I can copy it down. I've got three or four copies; I don't know if everybody else is like that of if it's just me.

Thank you Gentlemen. I have never made pancakes with baking powder and/or yeast ever. I will Google Joy of cooking for the cornmeal/buttermilk pancakes.

Jan.

Being English my mum always makes those thin English crepe like pancakes with a squeeze of orange and a sprinkle or sugar. I'm going over tonight to feast on them as it has been a few years since I last enjoyed her pancakes.

ComradeQ,
My wife is a Pom and that's what she likes as well, I'll eat them but I prefer other tastes, being a clogwog makes me very different according to her.

I have a gift of burning pancakes. Never fails so I eventually just gave up and instead just use pancake batter in my waffle maker. Less fuss and doesn't require as much attention as waffles. Here's my recipe:

I kind of do my pancakes a little different... I use a healthy dose of oil in the pan to make sure that the corners get crisped up. My girl doesn't like it that way... kids love it tho. =)

The recipe linked above should give something like this:

I use both butter and oil to get crispy edges. :D

Just reading the words "pancakes and bacon" is enough to morph me into a werewolf.
