I was looking at possibly introducing a degree of forced air into a shed / larger cupboard variety (demountable) & variable speed, & the possibility of an adjustable inner damper /collar for a set size chimney flue to allow faster slower flow through a 7? inch bore I have sitting around to account for different burn smoke densities provided by the standard macs csg, artisan, & my own gasifier unit.
The reason for considering mounting upward firing lighting is in consideration with the smoke source being drawn upwards & therefore not through it all the time.
(heck, a piece of cloth could sit over the unit when not anticipated for use, keeping the worst of any low lying gubbins from the frame, or simply mounted flat into the floor of a smoker with the main body in a void beneath.
I think though, that firing any lighting through smoke at hanging items is going to skew ones perception of how much smoke till done with all those shadows, but probably no worse than peering into gloom & losing all the accumulated smoke from a cabinet, as ever it's speculative & something to mull over, In these days of wireless connectivity & wildlife bird boxes streaming it'd be nice to send a picture to a screen & not interfere so often, ..or maybe i'm just too nosey for progress of my food under smoke!
