I wonder if anyone knows where i could get a half pig i am in lancashire near southport.

Have you tried your local butcher? That was always my first port of call, if and when I wanted a large quantity of meat. Alternatively, I'd look in Yellow Pages to see if there are any local breeders and give them a call to see if they rear special breeds.

You won't go wrong with a Mangalitza Claude.
They're a nice breed, very good meat but especially good for bacon.
Don't see them much round here though
